Mixing Fresh Tastes

As a young culinary staffer working for French chefs, David Cook used to hear his name mispronounced often.

“When they would yell for me, they would always say “Dav-eed!” says Cook, who took the gesture in stride and decided to name his restaurant after it. “I took a negative and turned it into a positive.”

Cook’s first restaurant, Daveed’s, was located in Mount Adams for 14 years before making a move to Loveland nearly 18 months ago. His new restaurant is called Daveed’s Next and offers small-plate concepts like truffle chicken mac and cheese and stuffed medjool dates. The restaurant uses locally grown vegetables and ingredients purveyed from area farmers and markets. “Everything just tastes so much better when you know it’s fresh and local,” says Cook.

The eclectic mix of dishes fuses Italian, Spanish and Midwestern staples. The diverse menu selection also includes wine and spirits to compliment any meal or date. Chef David also has a list of sweet endings like white chocolate mousse and a brulee of local figs to finalize a decadent evening of eating.

“We really have something for everyone,” he says.
