Since 1946, Bethany Village has offered a community for retirees to enjoy comfortably and peacefully.

Located on a 100-acre campus off Interstate 675 in Centerville, Bethany Village presents an idyllic setting for the optimal senior lifestyle. The Village includes residential cottages, villas, apartments and a variety of wellness amenities. In addition, Bethany also provides assisted living, long-term nursing care, memory-supported care and short-term rehabilitation services.

“It’s a very carefree and worry-free lifestyle here,” says Judy Budi, Bethany Village vice president of residential care. “The advantage of a retirement community is that everything is located right here.”

With 383 residences, Bethany’s independent living arrangements are some of the most popular areas at the Village. The campus includes 30 expansive single and attached villas that range between 1,730 and 3,828 square feet.

“Many of the people who live here are the typical older adults who are very active. They still live on their own; they just choose to live here,” says Budi.

If some care is needed, the 62 assisted-living residences present a comfortable environment for individuals who require some support, but not full-time care. The assisted-living residences provide 24-hour nursing supervision as well as life-enrichment activities.

For those in need of long-term skilled nursing with memory-supported care, Bethany has 147 private rooms, plus 56 memory support units, that are staffed by physicians, nurses, life enrichment coordinators, social workers, dieticians and pastoral team members.

“We offer the full continuum,” says Budi.

Along with the living options, Bethany has focused much of its effort on health and wellness. There are several levels of strength training, aerobics, free weights, treadmills, recumbent steppers and bikes. The focus on physical activity is part of a larger trend in health and wellness.

“The focus on fitness- and wellness-related activities has increased in the past 15 years,” says Budi. “Seniors have really turned their attention to staying active and living longer.”

Bethany also has an exercise physiologist on staff and dieticians to help residents establish an active routine. Scheduled aerobics, strength training and PACE (People with Arthritis Can Exercise) are all offered. The Village Fitness Center offers health education programs and advice. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Life Trails are available for walking, biking and jogging.

The Bethany Rehabilitation Center has 49 private rooms and private baths, with unlimited visiting hours, in-room dining and unlimited visiting hours. The BRC provides short-term nursing care and therapy for individuals who aren’t quite ready to return home following an injury illness or surgery. It’s also the perfect setting for those recovering from cardiac procedures, joint-replacement surgery, falls, accidents and other major illnesses.

Sponsored by Graceworks Lutheran Services, Bethany Village is one of more than 50 locations the faith-based nonprofit operates. With more than 1,000 employees and 900 volunteers, Graceworks operates in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, and specializes in a variety of social services, including health care, therapy and assistance at home, affordable housing for seniors with limited income, support, and housing for those with intellectual disabilities, as well as financial counseling.

Bonnie Smith, administrator at Graceworks at Home, says the health care services at Bethany are among the best in the Tristate. The rigorous hiring process ensures only quality applicants are employed, while modern amenities guarantee cutting-edge service.

She says 40 percent of the people Graceworks provides care for are on campus, with 60 percent living outside the community.

Graceworks at Home provides personal care support for responsibilities such as laundry, appointment reminders, assistance with meals, bathing and dressing, and other daily tasks. Graceworks at Home also provides skilled nursing and therapy, as well as services like wound care, speech therapy, intravenous therapy and others.

“It’s all relatively new and it’s a great fit to have your own homecare located on your campus because you have that continuum of care,” says Smith. “Bethany has such a high quality reputation and people expect to have top-notch staff, quality compassionate caregivers who are passionate about their jobs. “

For seniors dealing with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, Bethany’s Courtyard Park offers a comfortable, secure and dignified environment. The Park has 24/7 registered nursing, skilled and personal care, as well as various life enrichment activities that stimulate memories, like arts and crafts, creative cooking and ice cream socials. The detailed attention is among a host of appealing services and amenities that Bethany offers.

“It’s really just like a village here,” says Budi.
